Kerala SET July 2023 – Educational Qualification

The eligibility criteria for various subjects are as follows:



  • Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry: Candidates must have an M.Sc. Ed. A minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the concerned subject is required for candidates who have obtained their degree from any Regional Institute of Education sponsored by NCERT.
  • Botany and Zoology: To be eligible, applicants must possess an M.Sc.Ed. degree in the relevant subject with a minimum of 50% marks. Candidates should have either an equivalent grade from a Regional Institute of Education sponsored by NCERT or an MSc Ed degree in Life Science with a minimum of 50% marks from any Regional Institute of Education.
  •  Russian, Commerce, French, Gandhian Studies, Social Work, Geology, Statistics, German, Home Science, Journalism, Latin, Music, Philosophy, Anthropology, Psychology,  Sociology,  and Syriac: Candidates must possess a B.Ed degree.
  • English: Candidates must possess a II class Master’s Degree in Communicative English. With at least 50% marks as well as a B.Ed. degree.
  • Hindi: Candidates who have acquired a B.Ed Degree in Hindi conducted by the Dakshin Bharatha Hindi Prachara Sabha are exempted from the requirement of producing the equivalency certificate, as the degree has been recognized by the Universities in Kerala.
  • To be eligible, candidates must have passed their degree examination in any discipline from a university in Kerala or recognized as equivalent, with Latin as their second language under Paper II. They have secured at least 50% marks. These eligibility criteria hold true only if the candidate has secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for the part II.

Kerala SET July 2023 – Application Fee

The Kerala SET (State Eligibility Test) conducting authority sets the registration fee for the exam. For the current year, the fees are mentioned below. Candidates can pay the registration fee only through online mode using Net Banking, Debit Card or Credit Card.

The application fee for General and OBC candidates is INR 1000, while SC, ST, VH and PH candidates need to pay INR 500. However, candidates residing outside Kerala are required to pay the same amount as mentioned above, that is INR 1000 for General and OBC candidates and INR 500 for SC, ST, VH and PH candidates.

The Kerala SET (State Eligibility Test) Notification was released on 28th March 2023. The application process for the exam started on 30th March 2023 and will be open until 25th April 2023, with the deadline set at 5:00 PM.



The last date for payment of the application fee is 27th April 2023, and candidates must complete their payment before 5:00 PM.

In case candidates have made any mistakes while filling out the application form, they can make the necessary corrections between 28th April 2023 to 30th April 2023, with the deadline being set at 5:00 PM.

Kerala SET July 2023 – Apply Process

  • Visit the official website of Kerala SET – www.lbscentre.kerala.gov.in and select the “Online Services” tab.
  • Go to the “SET and other exams” option and then select “SET-July -2023” to proceed.
  • In the first step of registration, enter a valid mobile phone number and register to receive an OTP on the mobile number provided.
  • Fill out the online application form with personal and academic details and submit it. After submission, the registered ID will be displayed on the screen. Keep this ID safe for future reference.
  • Upload a JPEG format photo with a height of 200 pixels and a width of 150 pixels. The maximum file size should be 30 KB.
  • Pay the Kerala SET 2023 Registration Fee online through various options like credit/debit card or net banking. It is important to note that the application fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Exam Pattern:

The Kerala SET Exam 2023 consists of two papers, both with multiple choice type (MCQ) questions. Each paper is of 2 hours duration. Paper-I has 2 parts. Part-A and Part-B.



  • Part-A contains 60 questions based on general knowledge and Part-B contains 60 questions on teaching aptitude.
  • Paper-II has a total of 120 questions based on 35 topics related to candidates’ specialization. Each question in Paper I and II carries 1 mark. However, for Mathematics and Statistics subjects, each question carries 1.5 marks.

There is no negative marking for any paper.

Syllabus:

As per the Kerala SET 2023 exam pattern, the examination is divided into two papers.

  • Paper-1 consists of 120 multiple-choice questions, divided into two parts- Part A and Part B. Part A will have 60 questions based on General Knowledge, and Part B will have 60 questions based on Teaching Aptitude. Each question carries 1 mark, and there is no negative marking in the examination.
  • Paper-2 consists of 120 multiple-choice questions, based on the specialization of the candidates. Candidates have to choose one subject out of the 35 subjects offered. Each question carries 1 mark, except for Mathematics and Statistics subjects where each question carries 1.5 marks. There is no negative marking in Paper-2 as well.
