SSC CGL 2023 : Important Dates

  • The SSC CGL Registration and Online Application process for the 2023 exam started on 3rd April 2023, and the last date to apply online was extended to 3rd May 2023.
  • Candidates were able to generate offline challan until 4th May 2023, and make payments through challan until 5th May 2023.

SSC CGL 2023 : Exam Fee

  • Candidates belonging to certain categories, such as women candidates, SC, ST, ESM, and PWD, are exempted from paying the application fee.
  • However, general and OBC candidates are required to pay an application fee of Rs. 100/-.
  • The fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or using various credit or debit cards. Alternatively, candidates can also pay the fee in cash at SBI branches by generating an SBI Challan.

SSC CGL 2023 : Exam Syllabus

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the syllabus for the SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2023 exam in its official notification. The exam comprises four main subjects, which include:

  1. Quantitative Aptitude: This section tests the candidates’ numerical ability, mathematical skills, and problem-solving skills. The syllabus for this section includes topics such as Simplification, Interest, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Problem on Ages, Speed, Distance and Time, Number System, Mensuration, Data Interpretation, Algebra, Trigonometry, and Geometry.
  2. Reasoning: This section aims to assess the candidates’ logical and analytical skills. The syllabus for this section includes topics such as Classification, Analogy, Coding-Decoding, Matrix, Word Formation, Venn Diagram, Direction and Distance, Blood Relations, Series, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
  3. English Comprehension: This section aims to assess the candidates’ English language skills. The syllabus for this section includes topics such as Reading Comprehension, Fill in the Blanks, Spellings, Phrases and Idioms, One Word Substitution, Sentence Correction, and Error Spotting.
  4. General Knowledge: This section aims to assess the candidates’ general awareness of the world and India. The syllabus for this section includes topics such as Static General Knowledge (Indian History, Culture, etc.), Science, Current Affairs, Sports, Books and Authors, Important Schemes, Portfolios, People in the News, and other relevant topics.

SSC CGL 2023 : Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for SSC CGL 2023 Tier 1 is as follows:

  • The exam consists of 100 questions.
  • There are 4 sections in the exam, each containing 25 questions.
  • The sections include General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.
  • The questions will be asked from the syllabus of 6th to 10th standard.
  • Each section carries 50 marks, making the total marks for the exam 200.
  • The duration of the exam is 60 minutes, which extends to 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in all sections.

Candidates must note that the questions in SSC CGL 2023 Tier 1 will be of objective type, and the exam will be conducted online.



The SSC CGL 2023 Tier 2 exam pattern: 

There are three papers in this stage of the selection process. The papers are Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III. The exam duration for Paper-I is 1 hour, and for Paper-II and Paper-III, it is 2 hours each. The details of the papers are as follows:

  • Paper-I (Compulsory for all posts): This paper is mandatory for all candidates who have applied for SSC CGL 2023. It is an objective type test that includes questions on Quantitative Abilities. The maximum marks for this paper are 200, and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
  • Paper-II (Junior Statistical Officer (JSO)): This paper is meant for candidates who have applied for the post of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. It is also an objective type test that includes questions on Statistics. The maximum marks for this paper are 200, and there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
  • Paper-III (Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer): This paper is meant for candidates who have applied for the post of Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer. It is also an objective type test that includes questions on Economics and Governance. The maximum marks for this paper are 200, and there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

Candidates must note that the SSC CGL 2023 Tier 2 exam will be conducted online, and the questions will be asked in English and Hindi languages.
