UPSC Admit Card 2023-  Exam Pattern

The UPSC CDS (Combined Defence Services) Exam has two different patterns, depending on the type of admission the candidate is applying for.

A) For admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy:

  • The written exam consists of three papers: English, General Knowledge, and Mathematics, each of 2 hours duration, and a maximum of 100 marks.
  • The total duration of the written exam is 6 hours, and the total marks are 300.
  • Candidates who qualify in the written exam are then called for a Service Selection Board (SSB) Test/Interview, which is of 5 days duration and carries a maximum of 300 marks.
  • The final selection is based on the candidate’s performance in both the written exam and the SSB Test/Interview.

B) For admission to Officers’ Training Academy:



  • The written exam consists of two papers: English and General Knowledge, each of 2 hours duration and a maximum of 100 marks.
  • The total duration of the written exam is 4 hours, and the total marks are 200.
  • Candidates who qualify in the written exam are then called for a Service Selection Board (SSB) Test/Interview, which is of 5 days duration and carries a maximum of 300 marks.

The final selection is based on the candidate’s performance in both the written exam and the SSB Test/Interview.

To download the UPSC CDS Admit Card 2023, candidates can follow the steps given below:

  • Visit the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.
  • Click on the “Admit Card” link on the homepage.
  • On the next page, click on the link for “UPSC CDS Admit Card 2023”.
  • A new page will open, where the candidate needs to enter either their Registration ID or Roll Number.
  • After entering the required details, click on the “Submit” button.
  • The admit card will be displayed on the screen. Candidates can check the details mentioned on it such as name, photograph, exam center, etc.
  • Download and take a printout of the admit card.
