Mohammad Shahabuddin Chuppu, a former judge and freedom fighter, has been elected as Bangladesh's 22nd President.
He was elected unopposed, and a gazette was issued to announce his appointment by the Chief Election Commissioner. Chuppu, aged 74, will replace President Mohammad Abdul Hamid, according to the country's Chief Election Commission.
