The Geographical Indication (GI) tag was granted to four Varanasi-based products, including the famous Banarasi Paan, on April 3, 2022.
These products are known for their unique qualities specific to their respective regions. Apart from Benarasi Paan, which is renowned for its distinct taste and blend of ingredients, the other three products are Banarasi Langda Mango, Ramnagar Bhanta (Brinjal), and Adamchini Rice.
The GI expert, Padma Awardee Rajinikant, has confirmed the certification of these products. Notably, Benarasi Paan was featured in Amitabh Bachchan's popular song "Khaike Paan Benaras Wala."
