The Maharashtra state government recently announced that Dattatreya, also known as Appasaheb Dharmadikari, a well-known social worker, preacher, and reformer, will receive the prestigious Maharashtra Bhushan award for 2022.
The award comprises a medal, a citation, and a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh, and will be presented to Appasaheb at a later function. He was previously honored with the Padmashri award in 2017.
Appasaheb, also known as Nanasaheb, is widely recognized as an ambassador of cleanliness and trust, and has spearheaded several programs, including environment-friendly initiatives such as the production of fertilizers using the remains of Ganesh idols after visarjan.
