The Mumbai-based Churchgate railway station is set to be renamed as the ‘Chintamanrao Deshmukh station’ in honour of CD Deshmukh, the first governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
This decision was made during the first national executive meeting of the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde, which was recently declared as the original Shiv Sena by the Election Commission.
The meeting passed a resolution to rename the station after Deshmukh, who was also a former Union Finance Minister.
