In the second AFI National Jumps Competition, 21-year-old Jeswin Aldrin from Tamil Nadu broke the national record for men's long jump by leaping 8.42 meters.
This surpassed the previous mark of 8.36 meters set by his Indian teammate M Sreeshankar at the Federation Cup in Kozhikode in April 2022. Prior to this achievement, Aldrin had won silver at the Asian Indoor Championships in Astana with a 7.97-meter jump.
His participation in competitive events allowed him to make the most of the opportunity and break the national record.
