The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) collaborated to develop an Earth-observation satellite named NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar).
Recently, a send-off ceremony was held for the satellite at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) of the American space agency in Southern California.
ISRO intends to use NISAR for various purposes, such as agricultural mapping and monitoring glaciers in the Himalayas, landslide-prone areas, and changes in the coastline.
