The first state-level ‘Shrimp Mela’ was organized by which stae Government?

The Punjab Government has recently organized its first state-level 'Shrimp Mela' or Prawn Fair.


The primary aim of the fair was to promote and create awareness about shrimp farming, which is an aquaculture-based activity for producing shrimp for human consumption in marine or freshwater.

As of the 2022-23 fiscal year, a total of 1,212 acres of land has been utilized for shrimp farming in southwest Punjab, with a total production of 2,413 tonnes of shrimp.
