1)Former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, was awarded the Netaji Award 2022 by the Netaji Research Bureau. The award was received on his behalf by the Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, Nakamura Yutaka, during a ceremony held at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's residence on his 125th birth anniversary.
2)The program was addressed remotely by Satoshi Suzuki, the Japanese Ambassador to India, from New Delhi. According to Sugata Bose, the grand-nephew of the famed liberation fighter and Director of the Netaji Research Bureau, Abe is a great admirer of Netaji. Additionally, in January 2021, Shinzo Abe, the former Japanese Prime Minister, was bestowed with the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour.
