The chief minister of the state, Himanta Biswa Sarma, presided over the foundation stone-laying ceremony for North East India's inaugural compressed biogas plant project in Sonapur's Domora Pathar area, located within the Kamrup (Metropolitan) district.
The plant, constructed by businessmen Pankaj Gogoi and Rakesh Doley under the name Redlemon Technologies, is projected to start operations in November 2023 and will have the capacity to produce 5 tonnes of compressed biogas per day from raw materials such as municipal solid waste and cattle manure.
