Question

Which temple has become India's first to induct a robotic elephant for ritual duties?
  • Kerala
  • Uttarakhand
  • Uttar Pradesh
  • Karnataka
Answer- A
The Irinjadappilly Sree Krishna Temple, located in Kerala's Thrissur district, has made history by being the first temple in India to introduce a lifelike mechanical elephant for ritualistic purposes.

The temple's priests performed the 'Nadayiruthal' or ceremonial offering to the deity using a magnificent, lifelike robotic elephant named Irinjadappilly Raman.

The animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India gifted the mechanical elephant to the temple with the support of award-winning Indian film actor Parvathy Thiruvothu.

The temple will use Irinjadappilly Raman to conduct ceremonies safely and humanely, thereby aiding in the rehabilitation and preservation of real elephants in forests and ending their captivity.
