Question

What is the first state to utilize robotic scavengers for cleaning manholes?
  • Rajsthan
  • West Bengal
  • Punjab
  • Kerala
Answer- D
The state of Kerala has introduced "Bandicoot," a robotic scavenger, to clear sewage in the town of Guruvayur, making it the first state in India to use robotic technology to clean all of its commissioned manholes.

The Kerala Water Authority (KWA) launched Bandicoot under the Guruvayur Sewerage Project in Thrissur district, as part of the state government's 100-day action plan.

The Tron Unit, the primary component of Bandicoot, enters the manhole and uses robotic hands, similar to a human's limbs, to remove sewage.

The machine is equipped with waterproof, high-definition cameras and sensors that can detect harmful gases inside the manholes.
