In the presence of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board signed a contract with two private construction companies, namely SRM Engineering Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and FIL Industries Pvt. Ltd., to construct a 3.38 km ropeway from Janki Chatti in Kharsali to Yamunotri Dham.
The ropeway, which will cost Rs. 166.82 crore to build, will decrease travel time from the current 2-3 hours to only 20 minutes. Presently, pilgrims must trek 5.5 km from Kharsali to reach Yamunotri Dham.
