Bombay Jayashri, a Padma Shri awardee and well-known Carnatic vocalist, has been announced as the recipient of the Sangita Kalanidhi award for 2023 by The Music Academy.
According to the Academy's press release, Jayashri is regarded as one of the top Carnatic musicians of the current era.
Her parents provided her with initial training in Carnatic music, and she later studied under celebrated violin maestro Lalgudi G Jayaraman and TR Balamani. In addition to Carnatic music, Jayashri has also received instruction in Hindustani music, classical dance, and the veena.
