Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, a leader of the Janata Samajbadi Party, has been elected as Nepal's third Vice President.
Yadav defeated Astalaxmi Shakya of CPN (UML) and Mamata Jha of the Janamat Party with the support of Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Centre), and CPN (Unified Socialist) including the ruling alliance.
The election was held with the participation of 311 federal lawmakers and 518 Provincial Assembly members at the Federal Parliament Building in Kathmandu.
