The grains of this rice resemble black pepper in size and shape, hence it is called Mircha or Marcha rice.
The rice is highly appreciated for its distinct aroma and palatability of its grains and flakes. Additionally, it is well-known for producing fragrant chura (rice flakes).
Upon cooking, the rice is fluffy, non-sticky, and has a sweet taste with a pleasant popcorn-like aroma. The application for the GI tag was filed by the Marcha Dhan Utpadak Pragatisheel Samuh, a registered organization of paddy cultivators.
