Dinesh Kumar Khara has been appointed as the new Chairman of State Bank of India by the government of India for a period of three years, effective from October 7. Currently, Khara holds the position of Managing Director in-charge of Global Banking & Subsidiaries.
On August 28, the Banks Board Bureau (BBB) recommended Khara for the role of Chairman of SBI, ruling out an extension for Rajnish Kumar, whose term is set to conclude on October 6.
