Mirabai Chanu, the weightlifter who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games, has been honored with the 2022 'BBC Indian Sportswoman Of The Year' award through a public vote.
Hailing from Manipur and at 28 years of age, she has become the first athlete to achieve this distinction two years in a row, having also received the award in 2021.
The BBC Indian Sportswoman of the Year Award was established in 2019 to recognize the achievements of Indian sportswomen who have excelled at the global level.
