1)Dr. V Anantha Nageswaran has been appointed as the new Chief Economic Adviser by the Government of India. The announcement was made just days before the presentation of the 2022 Union Budget on February 1, as well as the tabling of the 2021-22 Economic Survey on January 31. This position had been vacant since December 17, 2021, following the departure of KV Subramanian from the post. Dr. Nageswaran is a former member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council (PMEAC).
2)Prior to his appointment as the Chief Economic Adviser, Dr. Nageswaran had a distinguished career as a writer, author, teacher, and economic consultant. He has taught at numerous business schools and management institutes in India and abroad. Most recently, he served as the Dean of the IFMR Graduate School of Business and a visiting professor of Economics at Krea University in Andhra Pradesh.
